Air Structures is both a cult classic and a precious live record of Robert Fripp and Brian Eno’s solo collaborations, and was recorded live on May 28th; 1975 at the Olympia Hall in Paris, France. This is one of the earliest performances of the duo’s soundscapes and has also seen a release in double vinyl format under the guise of Even Spaces.

This remastered bootleg has seen a few skips and cuts ironed out and generally the whole piece is a little tidier and runs a little more smoothly. Even though on the night there were no breaks in the actual performance, this version has been sectioned into nine names tracks, which interpolate and run into one another perfectly and so no harm is done with the benefit of added reference points.

The vast majority of the content is fairly straight up solo soundscapes which doesn’t deviate tremendously although the mixture of sonic guitar sounds, with pianos and electronics is enjoyable and contrasted by scratchy string sounds every so often. I think the set of tracks certainly show their age, although withstand the test of time which is a credit to their brilliance.
